I spent nearly a month in Lisbon this past summer, mooching around the best spots this wonderful city has to offer. Here are 5 of my favourite things to do while in Lisbon. Definitely put all of these on your Lisbon itinerary for your next visit.
For me, Lisbon has so much to offer. History, culture, weather, beaches, vibes, food, bars, brunch, clubs and so much more. The summer in Lisbon can be stiflingly hot which is why it's so great that the beaches of Costa da Caprica, Cascais and Carcavelos are all within 30 mins. But within the city, there is so much to do! My top tip would be to use Bolt to get around. On average any trip across the city cost me roughly 5 euros and they're super reliable. But here are my top 5 things to do in Lisbon. Let me know what yours are...
#1 - Beach Club - Praia Irmao
Okay, I know this is technically in Costa da Caprica but it's so close to Lisbon it had to be included. This beach club is the absolute perfect vibes, day and night for a hot, summers day. I went here at least 3 times and had an incredible time, every time. Which I think really says something. Expect; good food, amazing drinks, lovely servers, fun music and disco vibes, all with your feet in the sand.
#2 - TOPO Rooftop Bar
There are so many rooftop bars in Lisbon that deserve a mention but one I kept returning to was TOPO. Situated on top of an old mall it can be a little tricky to find but all you do is go inside the sliding doors, go to the silver elevator on the right and up to the top floor. What's on top is worth the wait as you arrive in a hallway with a bunch of old-school game machines lining one wall leading to the bar. Once you're at the bar inside there are comfy sofas and bar seating and outside a fun terrace with a beautiful view. The drinks can take some time in peak season but they're all really well-done cocktails that are worth the price for the view and the vibes.
#3 - Boat Party
If you do one thing while you're in Lisbon, make it a river cruise at sunset. Better yet, a disco sunset cruise. Hop on board a catamaran at sunset with a group of strangers, enjoy the best views while cruising the Tiber river, dance your little heart a
way (they don't mind you dancing on the tables either), make friends (or lovers) and enjoy the wonderful vibes before you get back to Lisbon. Your choice whether you hit the clubs after...But I would highly suggest you do.
#4 - Alfama District
The Alfama district has a very different vibe; a little quieter but there's something distinctly more beautiful about this area. Very quaint, charming and with some of the best restaurants in town. Wander around day and night, enjoy some fado music, and watch the sunset from the viewpoints with a glass of wine and you've got yourself a pretty perfect day.
#5 - Viewpoints for sunset
One of my absolute favourite things about Lisbon is the abundance of sunsets here. With many more sunshine days than not, you're almost guaranteed to find a sunset every day. Do it like a local and meander to one of the city's many miradouros (viewpoints) for a pre-dinner drink. Some of my favourite spots were:
Miradouro de Santa Catarina
Miradouro de Santa Luzia
Miradouro Largo da Academia de Belas Artes
Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara
Lisbon is hands down one of my favourite cities in the world and I'm so grateful I got to spend so much time there this summer. If you need any more top tips for your next trip to Lisbon, shoot me a DM and I can give you all my tips.
